Weightlifting is the sport of the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk. Athlete’s complete on a platform and are scored using their best Snatch and best Clean and Jerk combined to make a total. Studies have shown that using weightlifting as a training methodology has been show to increase a person flexibility, strength, coordination and power. It truly is the sport for all ages, each year the Masters and the Youth Divisions get larger and larger.

An excerpt from IWF website:

“In the sport of weightlifting, competitions are organised for men and women. The athletes compete in the categories specified in the rules, according to their bodyweight.

The IWF recognises four (4) age groups:
i) YOUTH: 13 – 17 years of age
ii) JUNIOR: 15 – 20 years of age
iii) SENIOR: ≥15 years of age
iv) MASTERS: ≥35 years of age”

There are 8 categories for both Senior and Junior, Men and Women with more available for Youth and under 15 lifters.

Males – 56kg, 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg, 94kg 105kg and 105+kg
Females – 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg, 90kg, 90kg+




How do i start?

Here at Iron Tribe, we’re proud to provide a free consultation to anyone interested in starting their weightlifting journey with us.

We can all relate to how hard it is to find a program that resonates with you and your fitness goals. How many times have you started a program only for it to last a month before never going back?

That’s why all of our clients start with a free 1-on-1 assessment. We want to know more about you, your life and your why? We believe in a holistic approach that is designed to help us keep you accountable and how we can develop a plan to ensure your fitness is for life this time.

From your 1 on 1 free assessment we require a $100 deposit to lock in your first block of training. 

1 on 1 Weightlifting – All of our clients start in an 1 on 1 environment, we know this is the best one for clients to begin their Weightlifting journey. Once consistent and we have ticked off our initial goals, Iron Tribe then offers clients to join up with another 1 on 1 client with similar goals, skill levels and interests. 

2 on 1 Personal Training – This is our next step in Weightlifting is Partnered with someone who has similar goals, skill level and interests these sessions help to motivate people on their journey.

Team Training – Capped at six people this is our most cost effective option. All clients in our semi private groups have completed or are still undertaking 1 on 1 personal training. This is to ensure that each client has gone through the same process and that our Iron Tribe standard is upheld. 


Frequently asked questions

Personal Training or Weightlifting?

Personal training is for all beginners to lifting weights. Its a great introduction to barbell movements, body weight movements and conditioning.
Weightlifting training is for all beginners who have been in a gym and are interested in learning more about weightlifting.


We accept direct debit, upfront payments and some payment plans.


Weightlifting programs are a minimum of ten weeks.
